Taokeh vs traditional cloud accounting

Cloud accounting is table stakes. If your books can't work with your AI, you're a generation behind.

Cloud accounting has served Malaysian SMEs well for a decade, and Taokeh is cloud too — the same access from anywhere, the same automatic backups. The question for the next five years is simply a different one.

The generation frame

Malaysian businesses moved from paper ledgers to the cloud, and it was worth doing — your books stopped living in one spiral-bound book on one desk and became something you could open from anywhere. That migration is done, and it was the right one.

The next migration is already here: books that work with the AI you and your staff already use. Not a chatbot bolted on the side — your own assistant, reading your live ledger and drafting the paperwork, with you approving every entry.

What "works with your AI" actually means

Talk to your books

Connect the assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT and more — and it reads your live books and files drafts. Hand it your paperwork — receipts, supplier bills, bank statements — and every draft carries the original document for your review; you approve each entry with one tap. It reads your books and files drafts. It never posts without you.

Full Malaysian payroll in the same ledger

EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, HRDF and zakat — run payroll where your accounts already live, so every payslip posts to the books automatically. Our PCB engine is graded against LHDN's official MTD test set, and your staff get an app for payslips, leave and claims.

Your selling channels on the same ledger

Shopee, TikTok Shop and Shopify orders land as invoices with the platform fee already netted, and each payout is tied to your bank deposit — so there's no separate reconciliation tool to subscribe to.

Questions to ask any accounting provider

The honest way to compare isn't to take our word for another tool — it's to ask. Here are the questions that matter for the next five years, with our answer beside each. Bring the same list to anyone you're weighing us against.

The question Taokeh Any other provider
Can the AI assistant you already use read your books and answer questions about them? Yes — connect Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant that supports connectors, and ask in plain language. Ask your provider
Can it file draft entries from your paperwork — with the original document attached for review? Yes — hand it a receipt, bill or bank statement and it drafts the entry, the original document attached to each draft. Ask your provider
Does the AI post anything to the ledger without a human approving it? No — never. Every draft the AI files waits until you approve it. That is how the product is built, not a setting you can leave off. Ask your provider
Is payroll — EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB — in the same ledger as your accounts? Yes — full Malaysian statutory payroll runs in the same books, with no separate system to reconcile. Ask your provider
Do Shopee, TikTok Shop and Shopify payouts reconcile to your bank without a separate tool? Yes — orders arrive as invoices with fees netted, and each payout ties back to your bank deposit. Ask your provider
Can you take all your data out, any time? Yes — full export whenever you want, with no “contact sales” wall to get your own books back. Ask your provider
What does the base plan include, and what do you pay extra for? Base RM45/mo includes payroll for 2 staff, e-Invoice, bank reconciliation and inventory; add-ons only for what you switch on. Ask your provider
Does it speak both English and BM — for you and your staff? Yes — the whole app, top to bottom, works in English or Bahasa Malaysia, and you switch anytime. Ask your provider

Moving from another tool?

Our guided switch wizard reads the export files your current software already produces — trial balance, aged receivables and payables, contacts and opening stock — and you confirm every figure before anything posts. Migration guides for specific products are linked in the footer below.

Common questions

Is Taokeh the cheapest option?

Honestly, no — some tools have a free or lower-priced entry tier. Taokeh's base is RM45/mo, and it includes what many stacks charge separately for: payroll, e-Invoice, bank reconciliation and inventory. Compare the whole stack you'd assemble, not the sticker price.

Which AI assistants work with Taokeh?

Claude, ChatGPT and more — anything that supports connectors. You connect the assistant you already use, so there's nothing new to learn.

Can I keep my history when I switch?

Your history stays in your current tool — export it and keep it. Taokeh starts you from a clean cutover: your trial balance, open invoices and bills, contacts and opening stock become your opening position, and you carry on from there.

Do I need to be technical to use the AI?

No. If you can send a message in a chat app, you can use it — you ask in plain language, in English or BM, and approve the drafts it prepares.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Documents you scan are processed to extract the figures on them. They are not used to train AI models. Your own assistant is a separate matter — it follows its vendor's privacy settings, which stay in your control.

Cloud is table stakes. Your AI is the next generation.
